The popular musical titled “Shrek” the Musical is going to start giving performances at the venue of the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane in the month of May in the anticipation of an official opening that is scheduled for the 7th of June.
It has been jointly produced by Jason Moore and Rob Ashford whereas the choreography has been done by Josh Prince. The casting for the respective musical will be announced sometime in the near future.
The respective show has been based on the story and the characters that had been a part of William Steig's book of the same name i.e. Shrek!. The DreamWorks Animation film of the same name “Shrek” also features the same characters. The book and the lyrics have been penned by the Pulitzer Prize-winner named David Lindsay-Abaire whereas the superb music has been given by Jeanine Tesori.
Some big names in the industry have been a part of all five films, but I am not sure as to how much of the success f these films can be attributed to these actors. There was "Alice in Wonderland" that had been sold absolutely as a star vehicle and the marketing strategy had been focused on Johnny Depp's character named the Mad Hatter even though he had been a part of the supporting cast and did not have a main role.
But think about it if Mike Myers had taken the decision of not lending his vocals for the character of Shrek in the fourth movie, do you think the movie would have made less money. Get your cheap shrek tickets before they sold out.

I think I`ll skip Shrek The Musical, I am sure that`s not the musical I would like. I cannot imagine that the musical will work as well as the movies because you have much more options in a 3D animated cartoon than in a staged musical. But maybe I am wrong and it will be a big success, you never know with musicals.
